What Families Say

These are representative accounts from families who have worked with Permai across our three services.

FZ

Faridah binti Zainal

Petaling Jaya — daughter of client

"My mother lives alone in Ampang and I am in PJ most of the week. Getting her to her monthly appointments was becoming very stressful to coordinate around my work schedule. Permai took over the errand logistics and it has been a relief — I get a confirmation message when she is home and the shared calendar means I always know what is planned. It took a little time to get the rhythm right at the start, but once it was settled it has run smoothly."

Rajan Kumar

Singapore — son of client

"I am based in Singapore and my father is in Kuala Lumpur. The regular check-in plan has made a real difference to how settled I feel on a day-to-day basis. The written summaries are short and honest — they do not pad things out or make everything sound wonderful. When my father had a quieter few days in April, the coordinator mentioned it in the update, which I appreciated. That kind of straightforward communication is what I was looking for."

Lee Wei Ling

Mont Kiara — daughter of client

"We asked Permai to assess my grandmother's apartment in Chow Kit before she moved back after a hospital stay. Suraya came and walked us through the rooms — the written plan she gave us was very practical and specific, not a generic list. The lighting suggestions in particular were things we had not thought about. I would have preferred the follow-up visit to happen a little sooner, but overall it was exactly what we needed to feel prepared."

Hasnah Ahmad

Subang Jaya — niece of client

"My aunt was managing on her own in Keramat but grocery shopping had become tiring for her. We tried to coordinate it ourselves but it was hard to keep consistent. Permai has been running a weekly errand plan for about four months now and it is working well. Ahmad handles the routing and always messages when she is back. It is a small thing but knowing that it will happen reliably every week has taken a real load off my mind."

TG

Thiagu Govindasamy

Bangsar — son of client

"What I noticed straightaway was that the scope was written down before anything started. I had dealt with informal arrangements before and they always got vague over time. With Permai it was clear — this is what we do, this is the frequency, this is the price. No ambiguity. The coordinator Nurul has been consistently responsive and my father seems comfortable with the check-in rhythm. That matters more to me than anything else."

SN

Siti Norzahira

Kuala Lumpur — daughter of client

"We combined the home assessment and the errand service for my mother's place in Cheras. The assessment gave us a list of small changes that we were able to action fairly quickly — moving a side table, adding a lamp, reorganising the kitchen cupboards. Once those were done the errand arrangement started and it has been going since January. The two services together have made a noticeable difference to how settled she feels at home."

How Arrangements Have Unfolded

Three examples of how families have worked with Permai over time — what they needed, what was arranged, and how things developed.

The Situation

A son managing a father's errands from overseas

An 81-year-old man in Wangsa Maju, living alone, whose son had relocated to Australia for work. Grocery shopping was manageable but appointment transport had become unreliable — two missed appointments in six months.

What Was Arranged

Recurring errand plan, twice weekly

A twice-weekly errand arrangement was set up over a video call. The son was added to a shared calendar and receives a brief message after every outing. The first month was monthly; after that it moved to a recurring plan.

How It Developed

Running for 14 months, no missed appointments

The arrangement has been in place for 14 months. The son adjusts it when his father's schedule changes by messaging the coordinator directly. No missed appointments since the plan started.

"It works because it is consistent. I do not have to think about it unless something changes." — Chow Beng Huat, Melbourne

The Situation

A family preparing a home for a returning parent

A 76-year-old woman due to return from her daughter's home after a period of recovery. The family wanted her apartment in Setapak to feel manageable and comfortable before she moved back.

What Was Arranged

On-site home comfort assessment

Suraya visited the apartment and spent three hours walking through each room. A written layout plan and item list were delivered within five days. Most of the recommendations were low-cost adjustments the family carried out themselves over two weekends.

How It Developed

Follow-up review confirmed the adjustments worked

The follow-up visit happened three weeks after the family finished the changes. One small adjustment was made to the bedroom layout. The family later added a check-in plan once their mother was settled.

"The written plan made it very clear what to do. We ticked things off over the weekends and it felt manageable." — Norlaila Ibrahim, Setapak

The Situation

A daughter in Johor wanting regular contact for her father

An 84-year-old man in Titiwangsa, living alone after the passing of his wife. His daughter, based in Johor Bahru, was making weekly calls but found them harder to sustain alongside work and young children.

What Was Arranged

Three-times-weekly check-in plan

A check-in plan with phone contact on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday was arranged. Short written summaries are sent to the daughter by early evening on each contact day. She can review them when her own schedule allows.

How It Developed

Running for nine months with one schedule adjustment

After four months, Friday was moved to Saturday to better match the father's preferred weekend rhythm. That one adjustment took a single message to arrange. The plan has continued unchanged since.

"Reading the updates in the evenings means I go to bed knowing he has had a day where someone checked in. That is genuinely enough for me." — Mazliza Ismail, JB
